Christina M. Tapper is an award-winning journalist, editorial and podcast strategist, and collage artist. She most recently worked as an Executive Producer at Spotify Studios and the Head of Content at Jemele Hill's Unbothered Network, an audio home elevating the voices and stories of Black women, in partnership with Spotify. In these roles, Christina led the creative strategy, development, and execution of Unbothered's slate of podcasts including Jemele Hill is Unbothered. Under Christina’s direction, the show won two NAACP Image Awards in 2022.
As the key architect in launching The Unbothered Network, Christina created and developed Unbothered's first original podcast, Sanctified, and played a significant role in securing The Black Girl Bravado as a Spotify/Unbothered exclusive podcast.
In 2022 and 2023, Christina served as a Pulitzer Prize juror for audio reporting.
Before transitioning to audio, Christina was the deputy editor at ZORA, Medium's digital publication by, for, and about Black women, where she led ambitious special projects, developed content strategies, and commissioned and edited stories.
In 2016, Christina helped launch Bleacher Report’s award-winning multi-platform digital sports and culture magazine, where she led the company’s premium editorial experiences as a deputy editor before rising to managing editor. She also pushed for and assisted Bleacher Report in increasing its coverage of female athletes. Folio named her one of its distinguished Top Women in Media and honored her as a “Change-Maker” in 2018.
Prior to landing at Bleacher Report, Christina conceptualized, wrote, and edited stories for Sports Illustrated Kids. She started her media career at People magazine, where she reported, wrote, and fact-checked celebrity and human interest stories. Christina’s work has been featured in print and on the digital platforms of Essence, Seventeen, InStyle, ESPN The Magazine, Jet and Black Enterprise.
As an artist, Christina constructs hand-cut collages, primarily centering Black women and girls, to reflect the beauty and complexity of becoming and belonging. You can learn more about her art here.
As a founding board member of Achievers Early College Prep, a STEAM-focused public charter school in Trenton, New Jersey, Christina helped open the school in 2018 with a goal of fostering a more diverse and inclusive pipeline to careers in technology, digital arts, and entrepreneurship.
An adventurer at heart, Christina is a two-time marathoner whose comforts include tea, travel, Sade on vinyl, Penny Hardaway highlights, and bougainvillea sightings. She is based in New York City.
